Jones and Cooper Builders Ltd is a construction company that has been based in Gore since 1948, when it was founded by Alec Jones and Fred Cooper after their return from the war. During their tenure they built a number of landmark residential and commercial buildings in Southland. In 1995 the business was bought by the current owners, Fred's son Peter Cooper and his wife Lee Anne. Peter trained as an apprentice and then worked as a foremen else where before taking over in 1989.

To achieve the high standards that Jones and Cooper Builders pride themselves on they employ 15 permanent skilled tradesmen most of whom have been with the company for more than 10 years. While Peter takes care of most planning and off site project management,  Neil Bone,  John Henry and Barry Norman do on site project management.  The company also has a broad range of specialist skills inhouse which allows them to deliver all aspects of building from heavy duty commercial work down to fine interior finishing.  They have the versatility and experience to undertake a wide range of projects from industrial construction, rural buildings through to top quality residential work with a portfolio that is extensive and varied in all sectors.

They are a well resourced company with a highly experienced team that is focused on delivering projects to the highest standard. They offer consistency with sub-contractors to ensure quality finishes are maintained on all work undertaken and also work with you and your architect in the design of your special project. They travel all around Southland to work on projects including Wanaka, Te Anau and even into remote areas to build DOC huts. The team apply the same professional on-site management, quality control and health and safety practises to all work they undertake.
